Customs Administration, aimed at suppressing illegal trade of tobacco products and other excise goods, in order to combat grey economy for the period 1 January - 15 June 2015

In the period 1 January – 15 June 2015, officers of the Customs Administration prevented illegal trade of cigarettes in 114 cases and on that occasion seized 4,970,300 pieces of cigarettes worth 134,058.85 €. In the same period there were 18 cases of seizures of cut tobacco in a quantity of 467.00 kg, valued at € 4,976.50. There were also 21 cases of seizures of alcoholic beverages in the amount of 796 litres in the value of 7,139.13 €. Based on these seizures Customs Administration imposed 155 misdemeanour reports in the amount of 107,400.00 € and filed eight offence reports to the competent state prosecutor

Improvement and simplification of customs procedures requires the joint effort of all parties involved in the process. In doing so, there is no single model that can be implemented in all customs administrations in the same way. How each country approaches this task depends on many factors: the level of its development and infrastructure, legal framework, type and volume of trade, human resources, etc. These factors vary from country to country and are unique to each customs administration. Therefore, efforts for reform will be unique and require tailored solutions.

Montenegro customs officers seized 250kg of cocaine in the port of Bar

Montenegro customs officers have discovered in the port of Bar record high quantity of 250 kg of substance of crystal white colour, for which the analysis proved to be the narcotic drug cocaine. It was located in the container with bananas, arriving from Ecuador, destined to the company in Albania.

Priority activity of the Customs Administration is the fight against corruption, and in this regard to raise the level of integrity and ethics. Carefully planned approach, strong dedication and commitment of the management, is moving towards defining the main causes of corruption in the customs service, detection of its prevalence, systemic approach to the problem by implementing a set of rules and program of actions to combat this negative phenomenon. In this regard, the Customs Administration adopted the Integrity plan on 31 March 2014.
