Press release: Efficent monitoring and collection of customs receivables

The Customs Administration ensures efficient monitoring and collection of customs receivables, thus continuously achieving a good trend of revenue collection.

During the period January–September 2019, the Customs administration collected 613,900,324.14€ in total, achieving the increase of revenue collection in amount of 37.97 mil. € or 6,59% more compared to the same period of the last year. A refund was made in the amount of 8,200,628.67€, thus achieving net revenue collection of 605,699,695.47€ which is 3.35% more than the revenue plan.

According to the structure of collected revenues, the revenue collection of VAT on import amounted to 404,756,765.49€, which is 24.54 mil € or 6.45% more. On the basis of excise duties was collected 185,777,377.95 €, which resulted in an increase in revenues collection of 11.88 million € or 6.83% more than in the previous year. Viewed by structure by excise goods, all categories recorded an increase. The biggest positive deviation was recorded in the collection of excise duties on tobacco and tobacco products, i.e. 4.89 million € or 15.6%, which is a result of the redefined excise policy and, consequently, the recovery of the tobacco market. Compared to the revenue plan, the total collection of excise duties increased by 2.85 million € or 1.61%. Collection of customs duties amounted to 21,620,173.02 €, an increase of 1.48 million €, or 7.38%, while the coffee tax collection amounted to 1,680,458.49 € and other revenues amounted to 65,549.19 €.
In September 2019 was exceeded the revenue collection from the previous year, as well as revenue plan for all types of revenues. The total collection was made in the amount of 76,905,454.74€ thus accomplishing increase in revenue collection of 6.13 mil. € or 8.66% more compared to September 2018.

With the modernization and digitization of processes and customs procedures, the Customs Administration has in recent years realized a continuous increase in collection of revenues and there are no unpaid customs duties. The more efficient implementation of customs debt collection measures has been facilitated by the establishment of binding procedures defining the procedure for collection of customs debts as well as the regular implementation of controls, which results in the timely payment of customs debt by the taxpayers. With the use of the Electronic Business Service, all participants in the customs procedure have the ability to quickly, in real time, monitor receivables, payments and deadlines for payment of customs debt. In this way is achieved efficient monitoring and collection of customs receivables.
